With technology innovation, changes in the way we work, and design trends evolving, it's never been more important to diversify. Comfort design seating that will work in ever-changing environments while focusing on the needs of the individual.
After the first nine years of manufacturing seating, Comfort realised in 2007 that it was imperative to have complete autonomy of the process from design to manufacture - from the castors to the neckrest. Comfort made the decision to invest in its own custom R&D Centre and retained full control of the process in house allowing the freedom to create chairs around people without any compromise on aesthetics, human factors or quality.
The Comfort research and development centre was founded in 2007. As the developmental core power of the company, our R&D Centre is led by three senior designers, eight sampling engineers, six structure engineers - and are supported by our creative, operations and administrative team. They have not only an abundance of professional technology at their disposal, but also share decades of manufacturing and design experience between them. Everyone strives for perfection - which is why our office seating, from Ergohuman to Genidia, is researched and developed independently by Comfort Seating, and is successfully marketed globally.
As a customer-orientated company, Comfort continually develops with independent design, researching and developing its own products and values the continual growth of our R&D Centre. Within less than ten years, the company has built on its own unique R&D methodology, which not only is time effective, but allows us to be efficient in ensuring our products are market-leading in style, materials, technology and purpose.
Comfort chairs are designed to last. Before leaving the factory all chairs are individually quality checked by a member of the team for up to 20 minutes and then signed against to confirm that the controls have taken place and the chair meets our expected standard. In the very unlikely chance that a chair has slipped through the testing net, we can easily find out who has checked the chair and put controls in place to prevent any further issues. The chairs have an industry-standard guarantee that can be extended through our long life warranty programme – on average they can last for more than 12 years. The chairs are tested and approved in accordance with all relevant standards and normalities globally.
Our chairs come as standard with a full manufacturer's warranty and due to continuance of manufacture and supply, we can offer an ongoing maintenance and part replacement service as or when necessary.
When fitting-out workspaces, the office chair is an often overlooked investment. With the average office worker spending the equivalent of five years sat at their desk, it’s no surprise that poor furniture choices contribute to absenteeism and reduced productivity. According to the UK's Office for National Statistics, back and neck problems were the most common cause of office absenteeism in the UK in 2013, with 131 million days being lost as a result. It’s clearly in the best interests of everyone concerned that these work-related conditions are avoided. One solution is to ensure that office workers have a task chair that can be tailored to their proportions, and that they’re trained to sit correctly - minimising potential musculoskeletal problems. That some companies would scrimp on chairs without considering the positive benefits of well-being at work seems short-sighted and, in the longer term, a costly mistake. Comfort's goal is enhance workspaces with products that not only look great, but add value in every possible way.
